Sometimes I wish I lived in Neverland and got to play with mermaids, fairies and pirates instead of going to work. I guess I’ll have to settle for living in Atlanta and dealing with other kinds of characters. I may have to grown up, but I don’t have to stop wearing Peter Pan collars.

Pencil skirts look good on everybody. I’ve always thought of pencil skirts as a basic, but the plain shape actually lends itself nicely to a variety of colors, patterns and textures. Forever 21 has outdone themselves with the options offered in store and online – and for less than $25 each!

While it might be Summer outside, inside the mall it’s starting to look like Fall. Now is a great time to start adding layering pieces to my closet so I’ll be ready when Fall actaully arrives. I’ve been lusting over this adorable J. Crew heart sweater for weeks, but today stumbled across a similar version at Old Navy. I can see this being added over sundresses when the sun goes down or with cropped pants and boots when the temps start dropping.

Tomorrow is July 4th! Bobby and I will be up early running the Peachtree Road Race, a 10k race through Atlanta that brings over 60,000 participants. After the race, I plan on relaxing somewhere cool and watching the fireworks. Here are some ideas of what to wear…

Thanks to a friend’s recommendation, I have a new favorite shopping spot in Atlanta. Labels Resale Boutique is a designer consignment boutique located in Buckhead. Voted Best Consignment in Atlanta last year by Jezebel Magazine, Labels has women’s and men’s fashions from a variety of the best designers. I’ve bought and sold at several consignment stores in Atlanta, and this is by far my favorite for both. The clothes are basically new, the prices can’t be beat and the service is stellar.

Summer Beer Fest

The 2012 Atlanta Summer Beer Festival is happening this weekend. Join me and thousands of other Atlantans at the Masquerade Music Park on Saturday. I mentioned before how much Atlantans love festivals, and with over 150 different beers on the list, this might be the best one yet!

When I was younger, my mom always made sure I matched…all the way down to my scrunchie socks and Keds. As I got older and gained my own style, I realized that not everything had to be the same color, it just had to “go”. I’ve noticed that matching and monotone outifts are making a comeback and I like the striking look it produces.

Today marks the official start of Summer! For me, Summer means enjoying longer days, spending weekends by the pool and sipping fresh sangria. In Atlanta, it also means hot temperatures and high humidity. The temperatures here have been in the 80s and 90s since March! A few tweaks to my beauty routine though, and I’m ready to go:

This is a trend I’m careful with, since it can be carried into costumey very easily. Skate It or Hang It!? will be held at the Museum of Design Atlanta (MODA) from June 16, 2012 to September 16, 2012.

The exhibition — which kicks off on June 16, 2012 with a day-long celebration called Skate Peachtree — will examine the visual aspects skateboarding, a sport important to contemporary youth culture since the 1970s, by presenting a broad range of styles, imagery, and visual expression in skateboard art.

With a broad focus on skateboard graphics—in particular the styles and methods used to embellish skateboard decks—the exhibition will appeal to a broad range of skateboarders, designers, artists and to Atlanta’s youth in general.
